Chris Pelino and his crew had a lot of years in the HVAC industry, but air duct cleaning was new to them. In May of 2018 they made the plunge, and went into the Air Duct Cleaning business with a new American Caddy Vac. Pure Ducts Air Duct Cleaning offers commercial and residential duct cleaning services, dryer vent cleaning, deodorizing, insulation removal, chimney sweep services, and central vacuum cleaning services.
The new business has taken off. Right now Chris has just the one Caddy Vac, but if things continue to grow, they plan to purchase a second in the beginning of 2019.
Chris says they chose American Caddy Vac for a number of reasons. “We did research on other manufacturers, but we decided American Caddy Vac was the best choice. Along with all the great reviews, working with Mac (Mac Mattoon – Owner of American Caddy Vac), through the whole process of the build was a huge plus for us. With Mac’s experience running his own Air Duct Cleaning business (B&F Power Vac, Lewiston, Idaho), it was extremely helpful to be able to ask him questions while we were doing a custom build. We could ask him anything and he was just straight up – he could talk about any feature because he has used them on his trucks… some he recommended, and some he steered us away from, and for some options he recommended that we not get them on our first truck, but wait until we grow and then add those features in our next truck. Everything we discussed regarding the truck, we talked with Mac about it. His experience was just extremely helpful.”
Chris says they have purchased lots of cleaning tools from American Caddy Vac as well. “The whips, the rods… we call them and it’s great! You call them up and and talk with someone in the office, and within a couple of hours you get the shipping confirmation saying it’s shipping out today or tomorrow. It’s great, it’s easy, and that’s what it’s all about. Because you don’t know you need something until you need it! And obviously with these guys you get it in the next couple of days – as quick as it takes for the shipper to get it to you.”
Chris says he hasn’t had to make a call for service yet because the truck has worked as advertised, but he has called American Caddy Vac with questions a couple of times: “You know in the Detroit area it’s extremely humid in the summer so I asked Mac how to keep the moisture out of the line and he just walked me right through it on the phone, with extremely helpful advice and suggestions. And if Mac doesn’t answer, that’s not a problem because it’s one of the other experienced people in the office… they all really know the trucks and they are just as helpful! I was out there for 3 days when I went to pick up the truck. Not only were the guys at the front office friendly and helpful, but so were the technicians working for Mac’s Air Duct Cleaning business! I mean, I went out and followed them for a day and they were extremely knowledgeable, extremely friendly. They kept asking me if I had any questions. They really wanted me to be successful. And then the tech gave me his personal cell phone number and told me that if I had questions once I got back home, I was free to call him any time! Even the fabricators and the guys building the trucks gave me their personal cell phone numbers to call if I had any questions! To me, that’s a big step for these guys to hand out their personal cell phone numbers to a customer. It makes you feel good because you know these guys are really invested in MY truck, in MY company… It’s not just another truck to them.”
Does Chris recommend American Caddy Vac? As you can imagine, the answer is “Yes”. “I definitely recommend American Caddy Vac. I mean Mac is the reason we chose Caddy Vac… their history, the amount of trucks that they have on the road. They’re dealing with large, nation-wide companies, so when you have a large, nation-wide company that’s purchasing trucks from you, obviously you put out a genuine product, a quality product. So for a smaller company like ours, you’re making a big investment in starting your own company. If you want to succeed, you need to start with a quality product. That’s just part of the package American Caddy Vac is offering. I would recommend them to anybody.”
