As we enter into the cold part of the year, it’s important to remember to take precautions to make sure your equipment runs properly, and that your customer stays happy! Here’s a handful of cold weather tips:

– Try to keep all metal couplers and joints indoors at the property you are cleaning. This will reduce frozen lines.

– If you are using couplers outdoors, you can use pipe insulation or even a simple pool noodle to keep the couplers from freezing.

– No one wants all the warm air sucked out of their front door while you are cleaning! One way to keep your customer happy is to use a twin sized air mattress. Just air it up in the doorway to keep the cold air out.

– Don’t forget about your air compressor! When it gets cold, it’s time to get rid of that thick 30 weight oil and replace it with a thinner 20 weight oil. Be sure to give your compressor time to warm up.

– Be sure to drain your air tank on a regular basis. This helps keep moisture out of the system and will also help to keep your air lines from freezing up.

– Check those chains before you need them! If you are in an area that often requires chains, check them for fit and for missing links so you don’t get stuck on the side of the road.
