Proper, regularly scheduled maintenance on your truck can save costly down time and unnecessary expenses.
Whether you do your own maintenance or have it done at the local shop, always inspect the work to make sure it was done correctly.
Greasing the U-Joints
Grease the U-Joints properly. There should be grease coming out all the way around all four bearing caps.
When you are finished, make sure any excess grease is wiped off. You don’t want to plop a greasy mess on the driveway of your next cleaning job!
Weekly Inspections
It is good practice to inspect and grease your U-Joints at the end of each week.
Make sure everything is tight and that there is no slop or backlash between the U-Joints or bearings.
