A jammed fitting can be a time sucker on any job. It’s a common problem but it is quickly and easily fixed. This Tech Tip shows you how to re-set the female Rectus fitting on any rod or thumb valve purchased from American Caddy Vac and many other suppliers.
When you can’t get the male rod or whip fitting to connect with the female Rectus, you may need to re-set your female Rectus fitting:
- Use something thin and plastic, like an ink pen, for the re-set so you don’t damage the brass.
- The female Rectus fitting needs to be re-set when you aren’t able to seat and lock in the male fitting because the locking collar is stuck in the “out” position.
- To re-set, use the pen to simply press in the center of the fitting, while pulling back on the coupling, then release. This should free the collar and allow you to connect with the male fitting so you can get back to work!
