At American Caddy Vac we are constantly looking for ways to make duct cleaning more efficient and more profitable. Of course, like any business, having the right tool for the job will save time and make your crew more effective.
Whips have been in use for a long time in the duct cleaning industry, but we have found in our own duct cleaning business that different numbers and styles of whips can make a big difference in cleaning effectiveness.
Of course, the traditional 8-whip is a great tool, perfect for cleaning trunk lines. But we noticed that we couldn’t access commercial laterals with an 8-whip because it wouldn’t fit through the vent opening. So at American Caddy Vac, we developed the original micro 5-whip with a much smaller diameter. With this tool, you can easily access those laterals through the vent openings.
Some applications require a much more aggressive agitation profile, such as chimneys that need a lot of pop to dislodge creosote. At American Caddy Vac we developed the 3-Whip with a thicker whip and more powerful punch! Our techs love this tool because it makes cleaning chimneys so much simpler and faster than using whips with a less aggressive action.
And if you really need to make an impact, the single-whip offers our most aggressive agitation action. This tool is made to break loose extremely stubborn materials. The Single-whip needs strong, consistent pressure. It works best with a quick-recovery compressor operating between 200 and 250psi.
You don’t need this tool every day, but when you need it, it’s typically the only tool that will get the job done.
Along with these options, American Caddy Vac also offers whips in varying degrees of flexibility for the 8 whips and 5 whips. Our florescent green whips are more flexible. They require less pressure from the compressor to create the whip action. These green whips are ideal for flex duct and duct board because they apply a more gentle whipping action. The blue whips are more rigid and require higher pressure from your compressor, but will work better in metal ducts.
And with all our whips, we offer the option of standard, reverse air wash, and forward air wash. If you have enough vacuum, the standard unit is a great tool to dislodge dust, dirt, and debris inside the duct while it is under vacuum.
If you don’t have adequate vacuum, use either the forward or reverse jet version to push or pull the debris toward your vacuum hose. You can easily distinguish between the forward and reverse because the main body of the forward jet is blue and the main body of the reverse jet is green.
In our air duct cleaning business, we keep all of options in all of our trucks so we always have the best tool for every situation. And if any parts get broken or wear out, remember that all of elements of these tools are available from American Caddy Vac.
